Counting part of text that meets the criteria

If you would like to count the repeated text, that are being a part of a string in selected range of cells.




In the above referenced example, we have 10 different products (like Washing machine, Cooker) in different sizes and we counted the number of cookers existing in that list irrespective of their size. We have used =COUNTIF(A2:A10,"*cooker*"). We had entered the criteria with * sign and it means we are looking for the specific string which is quoted between the * signs.

In the above list, we have 4 verities of cooker and they are not similar in size. The formula we used did not considered size of them and it just looked for the name (Cooker) and returned the answer.
